Patrick Wuestewald, Chair of the Crawford County Community Foundation, is pleased to announce that grants totaling $107,719.12 were awarded to Crawford County nonprofit agencies.
The following nonprofit organizations, which submitted applications to the Crawford County Community Foundation by the February 1st deadline, were awarded grants by the Crawford County Board of Directors:
Charter Oak Ute Foundation for new whiteboard for Charter Oak Ute High School: $1,000.00
City of Charter Oak for Charter Oak Commercial Club renovation: $2,500.00
City of Dow City for new roof, bathrooms & well house for park shelter: $2,423.00
City of Schleswig for replacing rusting doors and frames of pool: $4,000.00
Crawford County Conservation Board/Crawford County Board of Supervisors for purchase, finish and installation of two cabins at Nelson Park: $4,000.00
Crawford County Firefighters Association/City of Denison for training equipment for the use of all Crawford County fire departments: $15,000.00
Crawford County Senior Center/City of Denison for new carpeting: $2,500.00
Denison Aquatic Center/City of Denison for pool repairs and resurfacing: $15,000.00
Dow City-Arion Fire Department for purchase of five new sets of bunker gear: $5,000.00
Hospital Foundation of Crawford County for purchase of mini C-arm: $5,296.12
Manilla Area Historical Association/City of Manilla for renovation of historic Klondike Hotel: $2,500.00
Manilla Wellness Center/City of Manilla for Fitness Center equipment: $10,000.00
Norelius Community Library/City of Denison for digitizing newspaper archives: $2,500.00
Schleswig Community School District for Fitness Center equipment: $10,000.00
Schleswig Public Library/City of Schleswig for digitizing newspaper archives: $1,000.00
Vail Community Club for restoring the floor of the community building: $5,000.00
Vail Volunteer Fire Department for installing a generator for fire station to provide shelter for citizens during power outages: $5,000.00
Westside Economic Development Organization for new memorial park in honor of Eugene Kock: $15,000.00
All grantees met the criteria as Crawford County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions in the areas of civic, cultural, health, education and social services. Only organizations providing services in Crawford County were eligible.
Crawford County agency representatives received their checks on April 23rd. During brief check distribution activities, Wuestewald commended the nonprofit agencies for their individual efforts to provide a better quality of life for the residents of Crawford County.
"Our Advisory Board is pleased to direct $107,719.12 in grants to these important community efforts in Crawford County," Wuestewald explained. "The Crawford County Community Foundation is one of nine counties that are collectively known as the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa and meets or exceeds the Standards for Community Foundations as established by the Council on Foundations in Washington DC."

Not only that, you'll be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit for each donation, in addition to any Federal tax benefits for which you may qualify.
The Crawford County Community Foundation invests and administers these funds and distributes grants to deserving, qualified nonprofit organizations.
