07/17/17

(Denison, IA) – The Board of Trustees of Crawford County Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Todd Woollen, MD, FAAFP has earned the Degree of Fellow designation from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Woollen has been on the CCMH medical staff since 2002. During his 15 years at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Dr. Woollen has provided the full spectrum of Family Medicine care: outpatient, inpatient, ER, labor & delivery including C-sections, and surgical procedures including EGDs and colonoscopies.

Bill Bruce, CEO and President of CCMH, said “The entire CCMH staff celebrates this honor along with Dr. Woollen. He is a perfect example of our medical staff and our physicians’ desire to constantly improve their knowledge, expertise and commitment to our community.”

The Degree of Fellow recognizes AAFP members who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues, as well as in their communities, by their service to family medicine, by their advancement of health care to the American people, and by their professional development through medical education and research. Fellows of the AAFP are recognized as champions of family medicine. They are the physicians who make family medicine the premier specialty in service to their community and profession. From a personal perspective, being a Fellow signifies not only 'tenure' but one's additional work within a community, within organized medicine, within teaching, and a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research.

“The trust shown by those who bring their families for care is my greatest honor. Thank you for the amazing decade and a half in Denison. I look forward to the next three decades,” said Dr. Woollen.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) was founded in 1947 to promote the science and art of family medicine. It is one of the largest medical organizations in the United States with over 100,000 members. Its vision is to transform health care to achieve optimal health for everyone.
