CCMH Board Approves Planning for Dialysis Service

02/25/14

(Denison, IA) - The Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) Board of Trustees, at its meeting on Monday, February 24, approved a Letter Agreement with a private firm to begin the planning to offer dialysis services in Denison. Fresenius, a company that specializes in providing dialysis treatment, will partner with CCMH to offer the service from the City Center clinic location at 115 N. 14th Street.

“The Board of Trustees is to be acknowledged for working to meet the healthcare needs for the people of Crawford County,” said Bill Bruce, CCMH President and CEO. “Along with our orthopedic, OB/GYN and surgical services, the addition of dialysis to treat those with end stage renal disease is one more step toward offering a full menu of local options for patients of CCMH.”

According to Bruce, the Letter Agreement calls for Fresenius and CCMH to jointly cover the startup costs for the service with subsequent operations to be primarily directed by Fresenius. Remodeling of a portion of the City Center clinic building will be required before the service can begin. The timeline for offering the services is not yet known but is anticipated to commence sometime later in 2014.
