A Denison native, Smith received her Master of Physician Assistant studies at Union College in Lincoln, NE. Smith earned her undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, from Morningside College in Sioux City. Smith traces her love of medicine to serving in an apprenticeship with Dr. Crabb while in high school.
“I really enjoyed working with Dr. Crabb and his patients. It opened my eyes to a career in medicine and the opportunity to invest my life into helping others,” Smith said. “Dr. Crabb is an excellent teacher and mentor, and I look forward to working alongside him at the City Center clinic.”
Smith completed her clinical rotations in 11 different disciplines including family practice, internal medicine, surgery, and pediatrics, among others. With special interests including children’s and women's health, Smith will begin accepting new patients at CCMH Medical Clinic – City Center, 115 N. 14th Street in Denison, beginning October 1, 2013. Patients can call the City Center clinic at (712) 263-5071 to schedule appointments and can start calling any time. Office hours for Smith will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
In addition to her clinical rotations, Smith also served on a team that conducted a medical mission to Iquitos, Peru during the summer of 2011. She also worked with patients with brain injuries and neurological disorders at Opportunities Unlimited in Sioux City, IA.
“Helping others is what I’m really all about. It’s an added bonus that I have the opportunity to come back to Denison and practice here,” said Smith. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to give something back to the community that has given me so much.”
