Crawford County Memorial Hospital Hosts 2026 Scrubs Camp for Future Healthcare Professionals

Crawford County Memorial Hospital welcomed students to its 2026 Scrubs Camp on January 22nd and 23rd, offering two days of immersive, hands-on learning for students interested in exploring careers in healthcare. The annual camp provides participants with the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in a hospital setting, helping them connect classroom interests with real-world healthcare careers.

Throughout the camp, students rotated through interactive sessions led by CCMH professionals, gaining exposure to a wide range of healthcare roles and departments. These sessions encouraged students to ask questions, participate in hands-on activities, and learn directly from those working in the field. Areas of exploration included:

  • Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Speech-Language Pathology
  • Laboratory Services
  • Radiology & Ultrasound
  • Surgery
  • Pharmacy
  • Medical Clinic
  • Medical Unit Nursing

In addition to clinical experiences, students participated in a non-clinical career panel, where CCMH team members shared insight into essential roles that support patient care beyond the bedside. The panel highlighted career paths in areas such as administration, support services, and hospital operations—helping students see the many ways individuals contribute to the healthcare system.

Students also learned about educational pathways into healthcare careers, including college and training options that support a wide range of medical professions.

A highlight of Scrubs Camp was the return of Simulation in Motion–Iowa (SIM-IA), which provided high-fidelity medical simulations that placed students in realistic emergency scenarios. These hands-on simulations allowed participants to practice critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills while gaining insight into the fast-paced nature of healthcare environments.

Participant feedback continues to show the positive impact of Scrubs Camp, with many students sharing that the experience helped them clarify career goals or discover new areas of interest within healthcare. The combination of hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world exposure makes Scrubs Camp a meaningful opportunity for students considering a future in healthcare.

Crawford County Memorial Hospital is proud to invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals and looks forward to hosting future Scrubs Camps. Announcements and registration information will be shared on the CCMH website, Facebook page, and in upcoming newsletters.
