Senior Life Solutions Comes to CCMH

A crucial topic for many older adults is mental health. An exciting new program is coming to Crawford County Memorial Hospital through a partnership with Psychiatric Medical Care. The program is a called Senior Life Solutions.

Getting Older Brings Changes

As we age, we often face significant life changes. Retirement, moving, losing a loved one, or dealing with new physical limitations can be incredibly difficult to process. These transitions can lead to a range of emotions, including sadness, guilt, hopelessness, and even feelings of worthlessness. In rural areas like Crawford County, these feelings can be compounded by social isolation, making it even more challenging to cope. The new Senior Life Solutions program at CCMH is designed to address these specific issues, offering a much-needed resource for our community.

Many Types of Therapy Offered

Senior Life Solutions is an intensive outpatient group therapy program tailored to the unique needs of adults, specifically those 65 and older, who are grappling with mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety. But this isn’t just about coming together for a chat. The program offers a comprehensive approach to well-being, including:

  • Group Therapy: Small, intimate groups of 7–10 people provide a confidential setting where you can connect with peers who understand what you’re going through.
  • Individual and Family Therapy: One-on-one sessions and family sessions are available to provide targeted support.
  • Medication Management: A dedicated psychiatrist, who serves as the medical director for the program, will manage and oversee any necessary medications.
  • Education and Aftercare Planning: The program teaches therapeutic interventions and helps patients plan for their continued well-being after graduating from the program.

Reluctance to Discuss

The Senior Life Solutions team recognizes that many people, especially older adults, are reluctant to discuss their mental health struggles. This can be due to social stigma or simply being unaccustomed to talking about their emotions openly. The program is designed to be a gentle and warming environment where people can feel safe and comfortable learning new skills. The goal is to provide a support system that helps increase overall happiness and equips individuals with the tools they need to thrive.

Meet the Staff

The Senior Life Solutions staff will be comprised of four dedicated professionals: a program director, a therapist, an office patient coordinator, and a medical director. The team includes Kelly Gee RN, who will serve as the program director. Brittany Randolph, a licensed clinical social worker, will facilitate group and individual therapy sessions. With a robust five-to-six-week training schedule already underway, the team is preparing to serve the community with compassionate and professional care.

Organized Program

This new program is not an open-ended discussion group; it’s a structured, therapeutic program with a clear path toward discharge and aftercare. The team’s goal is to help patients gain the skills and confidence to navigate life’s challenges independently, with a support network in place.

Eligibility

How do you know if you’re eligible? The program is designed for people who are 65 and older. If you or a loved one is experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mental health struggles, we encourage you to reach out directly to Senior Life Solutions. The team will handle all insurance and pre-intake details and can refer you to a local therapist if the program isn’t the right fit.

Early October Opening Planning

Senior Life Solutions is set to open in early October and will be located in the outpatient services building at CCMH at 2540 N Avenue. This new addition to our community is a crucial step toward increasing access to mental health care and normalizing these important conversations. Be on the lookout for more information soon on the radio, in newspapers, and on social media. We’re excited to have this new resource available for our community!
