CCMH Launches Patient Partners Program to Enhance Inpatient Experience

Crawford County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Services is proud to introduce a new opportunity for community members to make a meaningful difference—one conversation at a time. The Patient Partners Program is a volunteer-led initiative designed to bring connection, comfort, and companionship to patients during their hospital stay.

Still in its early stages, the program is actively seeking volunteers to help bring this vision to life. Patient Partners will visit inpatients during extended stays, offering social support through simple acts of kindness—sharing a meal, playing a game, or simply engaging in conversation.

Volunteer Hours:
Participants are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from 10:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., creating a flexible window that allows for both consistency and convenience. Volunteers are not required to commit weekly—perfect for those with busy or changing schedules.

“We know how impactful small moments of connection can be for patients,” said Dustin Durbin, Volunteer Services and Community Outreach Coordinator. “I’m thrilled to launch the Patient Partners Program. It’s a simple but powerful way for volunteers to give back—by showing up, sharing time, and helping our patients feel seen, supported, and optimistic.”
