An EMG / NCV clinic is held once each month at Crawford County Memorial Hospital.
Electromyography (EMG) is a test of a muscle’s electrical activity. This particular test is used to measure how a muscle responds to signals from the motor nerves responsible for muscle movement. An EMG can be ordered when patients have symptoms such as muscle weakness or stiffness. Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) tests provide an additional tool for making a diagnosis when primary symptoms involve pain, numbness and tingling, rather than just muscle weakness. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is an example of a diagnosis that can be achieved through EMG/NCV testing.
