The Hospital Foundation of Crawford County is buzzing with activity, orchestrating several key initiatives to enhance community health and staff development. One of the most anticipated events is its annual golf outing.
Sign Up Today for the HFCC Charity Golf Outing
If you’re a golf enthusiast looking to support a fantastic cause, you can easily sign up and submit your fees through our website, ccmhia.com. Don Luensmann, HFCC Executive Director, says the Foundation is always eager for more sponsors and teams to join.
“If you’d like to be a part of this fun event, don’t miss out on this opportunity to hit the links for a good cause! The deadline to sign up for the golf outing is quickly approaching. This year, funds raised from the event will go towards purchasing a new van for our free Patient Transportation Service, a real amenity Crawford County Memorial Hospital offers for its patients and families.”
UTV Raffle Underway
Beyond the golf course, the Foundation is also in the midst of an exciting UTV raffle. Luensmann explained UTV stands for Utility Terrain Vehicle, often interchangeably called an ATV or All-Terrain Vehicle.
“This raffle isn’t just about winning a fantastic vehicle; it’s about raising crucial funds for our community education program. Specifically, we’re aiming to acquire new, advanced mannequins for training purposes.”
New Mannequins for Education
Dana Neemann, CCMH Director of Education and Patient Experience, shed some light on just how transformative these new mannequins will be.
“These aren’t your average, outdated models. We’re talking about “middle fidelity” mannequins that offer incredibly lifelike simulation experiences. Imagine connecting cardiac monitors directly to a mannequin, feeding in realistic cardiac rhythms, listening to lung sounds, and even palpating pulses. These capabilities are a game-changer for our training programs.”
CPR Training Enhanced
While imagination goes a long way, Neemann notes the ability to perform more realistic simulations significantly boosts staff skill and competency.
“Having new and improved mannequins will provide invaluable scenario-based education. Moreover, these cutting-edge mannequins will be a huge draw for our youth programs, like the Scrubs Camp and various career explorations, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
A Significant Investment
The cost of the new mannequins is approximately $21,000. While this is a significant investment, Neemann emphasized the value of the training aids is truly priceless.
“You simply cannot put a number on the value of the new mannequins. While we constantly train and hope traumatic incidents never happen, we must be prepared. If even one person benefits from this advanced training, it makes all the difference.”
Big Community Impact
Neemann also explained the impact of adding the new mannequins extends beyond the immediate staff and students.
“These mannequins will benefit all our community partners, including EMS providers, utility workers, county personnel, sheriff’s and police departments, school staff, and childcare providers. These essential community members often require certifications like CPR and first aid for OSHA requirements, which need to be renewed every two years. With these new mannequins, we can offer more frequent skill stations to ensure proficiency and comfort with these life-saving techniques. This builds crucial muscle memory and systematic approaches that lead to positive outcomes in real-world emergencies.”
