(Denison, IA) – The Board of Trustees at Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is pleased to announce that Richard M. Malyszek, MD, FACS, will be joining the surgical team and begin seeing patients in March 2025. Dr. Malyszek brings extensive experience in general and trauma surgery, with a distinguished career spanning military service, academic appointments, and leadership roles in surgical departments.

Dr. Malyszek completed his medical education at Hahnemann University School of Medicine and his General Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital. His military service includes deployments as a General Surgeon in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, where he earned multiple commendations for his service.
Dr. Malyszek holds active medical licenses in Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, and Idaho, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. His professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons and the Nebraska Medical Society.
Dr. Malyszek has held numerous leadership positions including Chief of Surgery at Cherry County Hospital in Nebraska, and Chief of Trauma and Anesthesia at Pikes Peak Regional Hospital in Colorado. He has also served on the Nebraska State Trauma Advisory Board and was a Medical Director for several healthcare organizations.
