Your feet carry you through nearly everything you do—from working and exercising to spending time with family and enjoying the activities you love. When foot or ankle pain starts getting in the way, it can affect much more than just your feet.
That’s why Crawford County Memorial Hospital is excited to welcome Dr. Sam Rathe, DPM, AACFAS, to the CCMH Medical Clinic.
In this episode of the Here’s to Your Health podcast, we introduce Dr. Rathe. He shares about his background, why he chose podiatry, the types of conditions he treats, and when it may be time to have foot or ankle pain checked out.
Why Podiatry?
For Dr. Rathe, becoming a podiatrist was about helping people stay active and doing the things they enjoy.
“I have a passion for providing compassionate, kind and personalized care,” Dr. Rathe says. “My goal is to work together with each patient to develop a treatment plan that best fits their needs and helps them get back to doing the things they enjoy.”
Dr. Rathe grew up in Ames, Iowa, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology from the University of Iowa. He went on to attend Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery before completing a three-year surgical residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
His training includes both non-surgical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions, with a special interest in forefoot and midfoot reconstruction, sports medicine, and diabetic foot care.
